The Scratch Sessions returns for the Summer this Thursday at Mitchell Street Library

Posted on

Starting this Thursday, May 31st, the Scratch Sessions are back for all the young aspiring DJs in Milwaukee. We’ve partnered with the Mitchell Street Library (906 W Historic Mitchell St) to bring free DJ lessons on Thursdays from 3:30pm-5:30pm between May 31st – July 12th (excluding July 5th).

Youth ages 12-19 and women of all ages, no matter the experience level, are welcome. Students will learn everything from the fundamentals of DJing all the way to advanced techniques and how to turn DJing into a career. This six-week course is in partnership with their Teen Summer Challenge, so participants will be encouraged to record their very own mixes and submit them to the competition.

As always, the sessions are $Free.99, including free food and wifi. For adults interested in supporting, we can always use more snacks and water. But more importantly, please come down and connect directly with the youth so we can build a community of support around them.

If you know any young people or women who are interested in DJing, pass this on to them! Or if you’re a professional DJ and would like to volunteer, you are invited as well. Please arrive by 3:15pm so we can start promptly at 3:30pm.

See you on the 31st!
